Leather Cultural District Community Meeting

As you may know, there is an active movement to create a new “Leather Cultural District” in the South of Market area, to honor and commemorate the people, places and institutions that gave South of Market its distinctive culture and appeal, and to help protect the remaining businesses and spaces and sustain the people who live, work and recreate there.

Creating this new entity will require a lot of public input and support. Everyone in the “Leather community” – whatever that actually means – is encouraged to participate in this effort, and to make their opinions heard in the process.

Please join us for this open meeting, on Monday February 19, 2018, at 6:30 pm, at SF Catalyst (1060 Folsom Street).

We encourage you to learn about the project in advance, if possible. You can visit sfleatherdistrict.org/ to read about the project and view relevant documents, including the text of the Resolution being considered in City Hall to create the District, a map of the proposed District boundaries, and much more.

From there, you can follow a link to join a Slack workspace, where there is active discussion and organizing. (You can access Slack via the Web, or use the free desktop or mobile app.)

If you would like to receive email notifications about the effort, including announcements of meetings, hearings, and relevant events, please visit eepurl.com/djdUyf to sign up.

However you participate, we hope you will take some time to become familiar with the proposal, to think about it, and to talk to your friends about it. We hope you will want to give it your energy and support.
