Explore Angel Island with Society of Janus

Lets get together and explore Angel Island, one of the most scenic and historic sites in the Bay Area! It's fun way to casually meet other people and have a great time.

Camp with us or just come for the day! We have a campsite for Friday and Saturday night (stay both nights, or just Saturday night if you like). On Saturday, take an easy hike around the island with the group, which you are welcome to take part in whether you camp with us or not.

Hiking Only Info: If you are just coming for the hike on Saturday, there is no cost beside transportation to the island. Just show up and meet us at the snack bar near the docks after the first ferries arrive at 10:00 (turn right after getting off the docks)

The hike is on a paved road around the island, with opportunities to check out some beach areas and the ruins of old army installations. We will stop for lunch on the north side of the island (bring your own or buy something at the snack bar when we first arrive). More info on the island can be found here: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=468

Camping Info: Each day of camping costs $15 ($10 for SOJ Members) for the campsite and dinner (bring your own breakfast and buy or bring lunch). Purchase your tickets ahead of time below. We will be buying food for dinner based on the ticket sales.

For those staying on the night of Friday the 24th, we will meet at the snack bar by the docks at around noon after the ferries have arrived. If you come later than that, you can meet us at the campsite. We are staying at Kayak Camp: Click for Map. We'll put out a Leather Pride Flag to try and make us easier to find.

For those staying only on Saturday night, meet us at the snack bar near the docks after the first ferries arrive at around 10:00 (turn right after getting off the docks). We will go to the campsite to drop off equipment, then continuing around the island to hike as a group.

Bring your tent & sleeping bag!

Getting There

To get there, you just need to catch a ferry (ferries leave from Tiburon and San Francisco). More info can be found at the following links:

Tiburon Ferry: http://angelislandferry.com/schedule/ ($15 Cash or Check only) Note that there is affordable parking near the Bank of America on Tiburon Blvd.

San Francisco Ferry: http://www.blueandgoldfleet.com/ferry/angel-island/ (19.50 round trip, pre-purchase available)

Both days we will meet at the snack bar near the dock after the first ferries arrive. Group leaders will have name tags identifying themselves and we will have a sign that says SoJ.

We will be bringing dinner for campers for both nights. Bring your own food for breakfast. Lunch can be bought at the snack bar, or bring your own.
