Class Description:
This class on personal power is a continuation of Master Gryphon’s teaching about who a leather person is, supplementing the many Foundations classes teaching about what a leather person does. Prior classes in this series covered honor, respect, integrity, and authenticity. Those values require and stand on a foundation of personal power. Personal power is not granted by another, nor can it be obtained through rank, position, privilege, or even skill or knowledge. Its symptom is confidence, its nemesis entitlement and discord. Be wary of those who seek power, not just in politics but in our community, for the most common power sought from others is power over, coercive power. Power over others is a distraction from authentic personal power. Mastery of self is the well spring of personal power. This class points at and illuminates the path for self-empowerment.

Presenter Bio:
In the late 70's, Silver Gryphon (SG) discovered the San Francisco leather community and sought education the only way that was available then, by apprenticing to a gay leather couple. Since then, many others have contributed to his education, notably including several dozen who have served him over the years. He graduated from the Journeyman 3 Academy and has been the HeadMaster of LeatherQuest in San Francisco. He created and has been facilitating HumanAlive for 10 years, a weekly program that supports authenticity in authority-exchange relationships.
