7:15-8:15pm: "Let's Talk About"
March's's topic: Queer 101 with Nil

Do you support the queer community but find yourself a bit tongue tied when it comes to play negotiation and non-binary pronouns? Recently, there has been a sizeable push against the heteronormative cis-gender status quo of the BDSM scene. This shift necessitates non-queer kinksters empower themselves with vocabulary and basic knowledge to better navigate negotiation and play with queer bodied playmates. Learn what that LGBTQIAA+ acronym really stands for, how to respectfully negotiate play and boundaries with individuals in the queer community, and how to be a more effective advocate for your fellow queer and trans kinksters. This workshop will cover the ins and outs of a spectrum of queer identities, discuss how to make safer spaces within the BDSM scene, and answer some of those tricky questions that Google just can’t.

About the presenter:

Raised in the womb of Colorado’s mountain majesties, Nil is a non-binary, queer witch and curator of spiritual-sexual synchrony. Always a crystal in one hand and rope in the other, Nil regards kink as the ultimate artistic catharsis and uses their craft to banish gender, fracture binaries, and conjure queerness to challenge the norm. As an advocate for infiltrating the kink community with radical expressions of gender and identity, Nil endeavors to surge the presence of queer and non-normative bodies in BDSM culture. Nil is currently pursuing a PhD and believes in the power of knowledge. Whether in a group workshop or a one on one exchange, Nil will arm you with their arsenal of BDSM geek-ery. Nil is a Denver based sex therapist and educator, and can be found teaching, performing, and playing with Denver Bound, Boulder Burlesque, and studio friction. They are the founder of “knotty queers”, host workshops and curate performances about queer inclusivity, working with energy and magic in play, and modifying rope work for queer and trans bodies.
