Choose Your Own Adventure: Suspension Transition Practicum with Shay and Alicia T-Corn

Patterns, schmatterns…let’s talk about the reasoning behind different transition choices, and build your ability to create unique sequences! This class is intended for folks who are just starting to work through transitions in suspension, and is focused on partnered suspension. To begin, Shay will bring the class along on the process to collaboratively create a demonstration transition sequence, discussing the “decision points” and pros and cons of different selections. Participants will then tie/be tied in a suspension-worthy chest and leg ladder harness—Shay will quickly guide you through tying a leg harness, or you can tie your personal favorite. Within an outline, participants will choose their own adventures, utilizing these harnesses for partial and full suspension sequences.

Pre-reqs: This is an intermediate-level suspension class. Attendees should have experience with at least static suspension, basics of upline management, knowledge of negotiation, risk, and body awareness for suspension bondage, and ability to participate at a level that is within their risk and consent profile with their class partner. Tops should have the ability to independently tie a suspension-worthy upper body harness (arms-free recommended).

Supplies: Your basic suspension kit. Synthetic rope for uplines recommended.

About the instructor:

Shay is a vivacious femme switch with over a decade of experience educating, hosting, and performing in the BDSM community (often with her partner Stefanos). Her background as an ER nurse informs her passion for risk awareness education; as well as being an international presenter, she is a self-rigger with a love for mobile suspensions. She is the creator and writer of the bondage safety website and self-suspension site, and identifies as a purveyor of perversion, pansexual polyamorist playslut, and alliteration fetishist! She is based in San Francisco, where she is the producer of Twisted Windows and host of BENT, San Francisco’s biggest ongoing dungeon event.

Alicia T-Corn entered the kink scene in 2009 and has been excited about learning, sharing knowledge, and building community ever since. She identifies as a rope bottom, rigger, queer, leather, boot black, slave to her Master, and a T-Rex. She runs and helps organize many events in her local North Bay Area including munches, the North Bay Rope Labs, educational workshops, tasters, and local play parties. Alicia was told when entering the scene that she was “too big” to do rope and has made it a goal to break those “rules” and push the boundaries when it comes to all types of play. She is passionate about sharing what She has learned to help grow the rope and kink community and make sure everyone feels welcome and can find their place.
